Dakar, Senegal Semester-Abroad Programme

Would you like to learn first-hand about African culture while further developing your French language skills?

The Dalhousie French Department offers a semester of study (2 1/2 credits) at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (IFE) in Dakar, Senegal. Students may also take classes at the West African Research Centre (WARC).

The programme runs from January to April, and is open to students at all levels of proficiency in French.

In addition to compulsory language classes offered at all levels (beginner through advanced), the IFE offers classes in French-African and French literature, French civilization, African civilization, phonetics and translation. The WARC offers a variety of courses including a number of Sociology themed courses.
